Due Date Calculation

When "Load Schedule" is clicked, the system calculates due dates using:

dueDate = birthDate + ageDays (in days)

Algorithm (calculateDueDate in pediatricTypes.ts):

function calculateDueDate(birthDate: string, ageDays: number): string {
  const [y, m, d] = birthDate.split('-').map(Number)
  const date = new Date(y, m - 1, d)
  date.setDate(date.getDate() + ageDays)
  return `${date.getFullYear()}-${String(date.getMonth() + 1).padStart(2, '0')}-${String(date.getDate()).padStart(2, '0')}`
}

Example for a child born on January 15, 2025:

VaccineAge DaysDue Date
BCG02025-01-15
DPT-1422025-02-26
DPT-2702025-03-26
DPT-3982025-04-23
MMR-13652026-01-15
DPT-B21825~2030-01-15

Clinical Notes

Multi-Dose Series Tracking

Use the doseNumber field to track completion of multi-dose vaccines:

  • BCG / OPV-0 / Hep B Birth: Dose 0 (birth dose)
  • DPT-1/2/3: Doses 1, 2, 3 (primary series)
  • DPT-B1/B2: Booster doses
  • HPV: 2-dose schedule for ages 9-14 (second dose at 6 months)

Schedule Flexibility

The schedule provides recommended due dates. Clinicians should use clinical judgment for:

  • Premature infants (adjust for gestational age)
  • Catch-up vaccination schedules
  • Contraindications and deferrals
  • Interchangeability of vaccine brands

Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI)

All administered vaccines should record:

  1. lotNumber and expirationDate — for recall identification
  2. manufacturer — for PvPI (India) / VAERS (US) reporting
  3. adverseReaction — any observed reaction (none/mild/moderate/severe/anaphylaxis)
